PASSION BRINGS US ROMANCE, ALLURE AND SEXUAL ENERGY. ULTIMATELY, IT BECOMES A CATALYST FOR TENSION, AGGRESSION AND REGRET.
This work was developed after a bad emotional breakup between the artist and a former love. The relationship was short but intense and extremely passionate. Creating this work was a means of healing and beginning to understand why the world unfolds as it does. It was the last in a series of works developed to ease the heartbreak and make sense of the painful transition.
Passion shows the artist entering the final portion of his healing process. It deals with the anger and survivor stage as the artist cast away his former feelings and moves on. The heavy textural elements seen in this work help express the volatility of it’s theme. The artist uses common found objects as symbols of the time he and his former love shared. They are displayed scattered and wrecked as was his relationship. The phone was actually broken during the last conversation they had together.
The first work in the series is titled Remnants of Love Lost and deals more with the initial impact of the breakup. It shows the artist working through heartache, wreckage and the emptiness felt immediately after a traumatic life event.
The second work in this series is Regret. At this point, the artist is at the self-blame and victim stages. He uses strong iconography to represent the guilt and remorse felt for his role in the breakup.
