SURFACE IS ONLY AN ILLUSION CREATED TO SHIELD US FROM WHAT WE ARE AFRAID TO UNDERSTAND.

We have all heard to never judge a book by it’s cover. This holds true for many things in life. We often discount people, places, objects and activities merely on first appearance. If we would make an attempt to understand, try out and accept them, we may discover our biases were only shorting our own pleasurable experiences in life.

For this work, glass marbles were used to build intriguing surface textures. On first glance, they look jumbled and chaotic but upon further investigation, we see a distinct and pleasing pattern. The use of cool to warm colors symbolizes our initial dislike, then eventual fondness of the work and other misunderstood elements.
